L. Russell Long, 86, North Manchester, IN died Sunday evening, May 23, 2010 at Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester, IN.  He was born at North Manchester, IN on January 29, 1924 to Edmund & Isabel (Parmerlee) Long.  On May 20, 1951 he married Alta M. Wiles.  She died December 10, 2007.  Russell retired after 43 years as a cost accountant for the former Peabody Seating Co. at North Manchester and later American Standard.  He was a member of the Roann Church of the Brethren and the Manchester Symphony Society.  An avid Manchester Squires sports fan he served one term on the board of Manchester Community Schools.  He was a 1942 graduate of Central High School at North Manchester.  Surviving are two daughters, Karen Garrett, Eaton, Ohio and Pamela Long, North Manchester, IN.  One brother and one sister are deceased.  An organ recital celebrating the life of L. Russell Long will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 30, 2010 in Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East Street, North Manchester, IN.  The family will receive friends one hour prior and following the service.  Burial will be at a later date in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester, IN.  For those who wish to honor the memory of L.
