Neighborhood Grocery For 43 Years

Hiatt's Superette, 501 East Seventh, has been a neighborhood grocery for 43 years.

Voyle Ramsey began a North Manchester huckster rout in North Manchester in the 1920s. In 1930 he opened a grocery on Seventh Street.

The store was enlarged several times and was sold to Harold Grossnickle in 1951. He operated it for three years and sold it to Bill Hire in 1954. Hire sold the business to Bill Hiatt in 1957 and it has been Hiatt's Superette ever since.

Bill Hiatt has been in the grocery business since 1928. He was a manager for several major chain groceries before coming to North Manchester.

Over the years literally hundreds of high school and college students have held part time jobs at Hiatt's. Today seven part time helpers are used in the store.

Hiatt's carries a full line of grocery stock. However, the store is best known for its quality meats and friendly service.
